Welcome

Today is the day we make our choices for tomorrow. English IV will be your last language arts class prior to graduation. This is the time to gain as many skills in writing, reading, and analyzing as you possibly can. Here on this blog spot, you are free to express yourself about the things we are studying. You are reminded about being appropriate to the school environment. I welcome your mature comments.

Who is among us?

We have met all the principle characters/boys on the island.  Which character are you tracking and what are your overall feelings about him?  Give a line/quote from the book that has helped you create this image of him?  (The deadline to post is midnight, Wednesday, October 23, 2013.)

I like the character Ralph because he is the leader. He is also trying his best at being leader. He is starting to put needs rather than wants first. For example when he said we "need" shelters. He also said he is building the shelters as a sort of home for the little ones.PR1

I am following Roger through the book we are reading. So far, I have found him to be a jerk. He picks on the little kids for pure pleasure. The lines where Roger "stalks" Henry down the beach and throws rocks around him to scare him are a perfect example of this. To me, Roger is just a big bully.

My group is tracking Piggy. I actually really like him. I would say he is my favorite character next to Simon. He always has the common sense that someone much older than him would have. Also, even after most of the boys have turned savage, Piggy remains the same as when they first landed on the island. AV1
