Which character are you tracking in the novel? What have two things you have learned about this character? Is he helping or hurting the chances of survival and rescue for the boys as a whole? Explain. (The deadline to post a response to this blog is midnight Friday, April 8, 2011.)

The character I am tracking is Piggy. I have learned that he is very smart and is the mother figure to all the boys on the island. I believe he is a very important part of the story and can help the others survive. (Jamie Sanderson)

****Correction****
The character I am tracking in this novel is Simon. I have learned that he is a very courageous and caring person. I believe he is helping the island by helping build huts and what not. He is also a very mature and helpful person.

-correction-

The character I am tracking in this novel is Simon. I have learned that he is a very observant, artistic person and that his place in Golding's allegory is the representation of Jesus Christ. He is quite handy to Ralph by helping him build huts and is very nice to Piggy by picking up Piggy's glasses for him and giving him some meat when he wasn't allowed. I believe that he is very important to the island's survival even though he is thought of as queer by the other boys.
