The Pardoner's Tale

One of the most famous of the Canterbury Tales is the "Pardoner's Tale," which we read today.  Why do you think Chaucer had a character such as the Pardoner tell a story about greed? What does the story reveal about the Pardoner and do you think it was a good idea for Chaucer to have the Pardoner tell this story?  Why?  (The deadline to post a response is midnight Thursday, March 14, 2013.)

I think that Chaucer had the pardoner tell a story about greed to reveal his immorality. This story shows just how greedy the Pardoner is while Chaucer's description only gave us an idea. I do think it was a good idea to have him such a story because it allows us to see more of the Pardoner and more of the way he thinks and that his is proud of his immorality even if that is the very thing he preaches against.
