"They looked at each in love and hate..."

Now that we have progressed through Chapter 4, we have seen some of the differences in Ralph and Jack come into play.  What does each boy want most and represent?  How will this love and hate relationship affect the dynamics of the island?  (The deadline to post a response to the blog opportunity is midnight Saturday, April 21, 2012.)

All Ralph really wants is to rule the island and all the children on it. He wants to play around, have fun and not be serious. Jack on the other hand is trying to be serious and get them rescued and off the island. Jack is more mature than Ralph even though Ralph is the oldest as you can see.

Ralph wants to rule the island and be rescued but jack is more interested in hunting and killing the pigs. But jack Also wants to be the suviver/provider.Ralp get mad at jack for letting the fire go out, but Ralph was glad to eat the pig that jack killed when he let the fire go out for food. That splits them in different groups and they're not working together to sirvive until rescued.
