We know that Shakespeare incorporated the three witches in Macbeth to please King James and other members of his audiences who were enthralled by witchery, but what other ways do the witches of importance in establishing the actions of Macbeth? The witches are important in establishing the actions of Macbeth by telling him he will one day become King. They say he will be called the Thane of Cawdor. Macbeth does not take this seriously, but later believes the witches. In order to obtain the crown, Macbeth must kill Malcolm, who is the heir to the thrown, and the king, Duncan.
The weird sisters play an important role in the play because they not only entertain King James, but they also put being king into Macbeth's mind. When the witches came to macbeth they told him he would be Thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor, and King. He was already Thane of Glamis so he just blew off their comments. Also he did not know that the king had said that he wsa going to name Macbeth Thane of Cawdor because the current one commited treason so when Macbeth got the news he was in shock and started to think about the witches last prediction of him becoming king. This makes him think about killing the king thus bringing out the entire point of the play.
The weird sisters spark Macbeth's horrendous deeds. I don't believe Macbeth would have even considered killing the king if they hadn't mentioned it. At first, Macbeth doesn't believe the witches. However, when he becomes Thane of Cawdor, his views change. Then, he makes the mistake of telling his wife. She persuades him to kill King Duncan. I also do not think that Macbeth would have killed the king if his wife was not around. She poisoned his mind.
The weird sisters are important in establishing the actions of Macbeth because they represent fate and plant the idea of Macbeth becoming king in Macbeth's mind. Without the weird sisters, Macbeth would not have murdered the King. The witches poison Macbeth's mind and trigger a chain of events that cause much chaos.
