Federigo's Falcon

Today,we read from the DECAMARON "Federigo's Falcon," which was told on the day in which the young troupe told stories of love. Love, according to your writing responses, can include DEVOTION, PASSION, SELFLESSNESS, WEAKNESS, SELFISHNESS, and FOOLISHNESS. Select one of these words and explain how "Federigo's Falcon" explores this element. Give at least two examples. ( The deadline to post a response to this blog is midnight, Saturday, October 30, 2010.)

Federigo shows extreme devotion for Giovanna. He attmempts to buy her all sorts of treasures and jewels. At the end of the story, he even kills his own prized falcon just to give her a good meal. Federigo would do anything for her and in turn Giovanna would even marry him in the end.

Federigo shows selflessness towards Giovanna. He shows this by giving up pretty much everything thing he had for her even when she would not give him the time of day. He tried so much for her to love him that he lost all his money and instead of hating her for never noticing he still loved her and wanted to do anything for her. When Giovanna's son becomes ill and she comes to Federigo's door he does not think twice bofore cooking his most prized possession, his falcon, and though it hurt him in many ways to do so he did it anyway. Federigo would do whatever it took to show Giovanna she was the one this is why he is selfless.

Federigo shows nothing but passion and devotion to Giovanna. He was willing to give her anything that he could afford even the clothes of his back to please her. He showed her true devotion when he killed his flacon, his prized possession, in order to make Giovanni happy. That is true love if I ever seen it.
